Ak-474 is a standard rifle of Federation forces . This is one of the first rifles we get in our hands in our quest to find the truth .
History
After Unification the armies of Europe and Russia had to standardize  the   equipment . Because every country used a different weapon  a massive competition for new weapons was launched . In the final there were five rifles . One - AK474 with increased ergonomics and range , FN 345 based on FAL rifle from XXI century , german GF-436 , Israeli IWI ACI , and polish BSB rifle . After long trial it was decided that AK will be a standard issue weapon to ground forces , FN 345 a navy weapon , while GF-436 will be Spec ops weapon . While AK lacked the range and it was distastefully accepted by Western Europe this weapon it’s reliability , simplicity , powerful bullet , good quality accessories  and endurance to the harsh climate had earned it’s respect by soldiers . Even up to today AK-474 is considered to be a prove that what is simple is the best .

AK-447 and it’s ammo is very common in the Zone . You can buy and sell it’s cheap and buy it’s ammo anywhere and it’s ammo gives quite a punch . Also , the weapon has enormous modification potential which can make it even more meany weapon . Also , it can mount all accessories like grenade launcher , scope , silencer and bayonet . While this weapon is considered ugly war is not a beauty competition and even most experienced Stalkers use this weapon because of  it’s reliability , easy maintenance , , inexpensive parts and good ammo .  And since modification of this weapon is common expect a lots of nasty surprises .
